VIdeo shows how to setup, terminate, punch down, and make cross-connects on a 110 block. 110 blocks are frequently used as distribution for PBX stations and Telephone company. They have one major advantage over 66 blocks in that the connections are more densely concentrated. Therefore, they take up less space. However, they do lack some of the versatility of 66 blocks. Even though 66 blocks are are larger, there are more ways to make cross connects. For instance you can connect two sets of wires to a Telco line on a 66-block. While on a 110, only one punch-down connection can be made per wire slot. 110 Blocks are like two layers. First layer is the source wiring (telephone lines or PBX ports) fanned out. Then 110 wafers are then punched-down on top of that using a multi-punch tool. Finally, wiring that feeds to inside connections (Station cabling, extended demarc) is punch down after that. Bridge Clips are small metal pieces used to connect two sides of a 66-block together. Usually PBX ports, Circuits, or POTS lines (telephone lines) on one side with the extended inside wiring on the other side. For instance, when the dial tone provider delivers POTS service on an RJ-21X, they will use bridge clips to deliver the dial tone to the other side of the block. Bridge clips (also called Bridging Clips) are commonly used in the Telecom industry. They serve two purposes. 1. completing a connection between two sides of a 66-block 2. a quick-disconnect device for troubleshooting. Using bridge clips to complete a connection across a 66 block is also sometimes referred to as a Cross-connect As a troubleshooting device, it allows the quick removal of customer-side or inside wiring from the circuit or PBX port.
